about

This track was made organically, and yet has so much intention behind it. But the intention came after many listens to what we had created. I sent the song to Ugochi and Juan because my mentor, Peter Kahn, suggested I do so. At the time, my verse was written and the drums had been added, but the rest of the space was void of vocals. Ugochi sent me a demo version her and Juan recorded over her phone. I instantly fell in love and knew I needed the song on the album. Ugochi's voice feels like a mother's wisdom. The album begins with Rahel sounding like an oracle on a playground. We end with a more mature voice being less "terrified" and more confident in Blackness. Juan ends the song with a verse in Spanish. I am half Mexican. But I am regrettably removed from many Mexican traditions. I don't know how to speak Spanish fluently. But that didn't stop me from connecting with Juan's words. It's like I knew what he was saying because I received his energy. That's the beautiful thing about music -- it's a different form of communication. It communicated memories, and nostalgia in a way verbal language cannot do on its own. It was only right to end the album on that note.

lyrics

Rich Robbins:
Blessings keep falling like hair at the shop
Verses so good don’t need a regular job
But I still teach the kids cuz the world won’t stop
When a nigga dead so I’m planting seeds for the crop
She came over when she heard I had a mil on a song
G string no cap proofreading the thong
Figured out I had a knack tongue and cheeking my wrongs
When the kitchen get hot songs are lyrical tongs
I can see the whole village from the top of the mount
If I take a deep breath the mount(ain) turn to a fount(ain)
The fount turns into pounds the pounds turn to accountants
I wanna be in love with love until im buried and soundless
And when my song hit a thousand I’m sipping straight out the chalis
You know the system a fallacy try to throw you off balance
The challenge ain’t fighting cowards, it’s trynna live in your browness
I’m trynna build me a palace the microphone leave me calloused
And then I need me some kisses
took the kids on a field trip it wasn’t one father figure
So I was getting impatient
Because I’m young and I’m Black and we defined by our races
I’m trying to piece it all together so the world will embrace us

Ugochi:
When you’re young, gifted, and Black
You might find you’re under attack
I hit em back with my Black love, love, love, love
They don’t know what to do
With all that Black love in you
I set mine free
In my melody
Escucho
Escucho
Escucho melodía

Charmanik:
So..

English Translation:
I hear melody the tones of a past
that with crude poetry has marked my life.
A market opens and a new active life,
Maybe it's my time to bury the nightmares.

I leave the same boxes or troubles with alcohol,
I feel different today I scored another goal.
Oh My Lord! Forgive this sinner who lives, believes and thinks about defeating Babylòn. so..
Fantastic story of the sun
feeling new love.
Amazing way to find my soul
growing my own. DOPE!
You now. Every day is a Challenge!
Each failure makes me reborn.
Today.I walk proud because of the weight of my weights.
When the Sun dies I enjoy the Sunset.
Strokes, ties, falls.
Waiter please pour me another glass.

Long live reason for an evolution!
Reach my people the healthiest solution.
Keep the smile that free you from pain
and the most important thing that love never dies.
the most important thing that love never dies.
