"Pretty Monsta" is dedicated to the students I have seen being mistreated by educators. Often times the educator is bringing in personal baggage, or a lack of compassion, and as a result a student is treated like a "monster" -- or outside of their humanity. In my opinion, high schooler's are not at an age where they can fully be expected to understand the depth of their actions. They are products of their environments who have not yet learned it's not their fault if they're messed up, but it will be their fault if they choose to stay messed up. We are more than our job titles (ie English Teacher). We are life coaches who have the rare opportunity to teach someone how to succeed in life. These kids need to see as many examples of mindfulness as possible. This song is for anyone who has felt belittled or other-ed by someone with power.
